Français Langue
General expectations:
Notebook:
Each student is required to have a three-ringed binder (3”) with the following sections:
*Verbes *Grammaire *Divers *Référence
With the use of laptops in class for projects, I suggest students have a memory stick IF they are not using Google / GAFE. It is the student's responsibility to keep all notes, assignments, and other course material in order.
Class participation:
Students are expected to ‘parler en français’ at all times once they enter the classroom, and to participate actively in class discussions. This participation mark will be determined through observation and student / teacher discussion.
Spoken French rubric
Homework:
Small homework tasks are assigned occasionally and are due the following class. It is checked for completion at the beginning of class. Incomplete homework will impact the student’s Work Ethic mark as well as their learning. A school agenda is given to every student in September; I strongly encourage students to use it on a daily basis to keep track of assignments and deadlines.
All work missed due to absence must be done. The student should check with the teacher for the notes and homework the 1st day back at school (not the next class).
*****If students knows of an upcoming absence, they are to get the work prior to the absence.*****
Extra help is available at all times, particularly in preparation for tests.
If, at any time, a student would like further explanation or clarification, a lunch or after school appointment can easily be arranged.
As I teach the same students in both courses, I will endeavor to create authentic writing opportunities and attempt to integrate when possible and appropriate. All evaluation rubrics for major assignments will be clearly defined and distributed in advance.
FraL 7 builds upon the basics of the French language with emphasis on improving the technical components of the oral and written aspects of the language. In addition to reading a variety of texts, students will have many opportunities to practice the language: both written and orally. Of course, there will be review and regular work to improve students' grammar and written work. The redesigned curriculum has the focus on the following concepts:

Sciences humaines 7
Throughout the year, we will look at ancient civilizations: their geography and challenges, their contact with others, as well as the development of social and political structures. We hope to include a variety of projects where students can choose specific areas to research and produce creative final products.

Home / school communication is important to the success of all students. As such, I will use Fresh Grades to communicate student results, supplemental resources, important due dates and any missing tasks. More information regarding log-in will be sent home in the up-coming weeks. I do not intend to post homework; students have an agenda for that.
Like all courses, I hope and expect that students also do their part, as outlined above, in making this year a good one.J I recognize and appreciate the importance of parental support. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to reach me at school 250-870-5106 or contact me via e-mail: [email protected]
Sincerely,
Sandra Landry
